Original Aranmula Metal Mirror with hologram sticker, Aranmula kannadi, Magic mirror, Aranmula mirror, is a handmade metal-alloy mirror, made in Aranmula, a small town in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India.Authentic & Traditional Aranmula Metal Mirror (Aranmula Kannadi) with hologram sticker on the back to validate its authenticity. We collect original handmade metal alloy mirrors directly from the artisans. The alloy is a mix of copper and tin. It is polished for several days to achieve the miror's reflective surface. This ritual mirror has been produced for thousands of years using the same time-honored secret formula.

Valkannadi means – the mirror with a handle ( ‘Pidi’ in Malayalam). The Ashtamangalyam (the traditional set of eight auspicious items) is never complete without Aranmula Valkkannadi. Ashtamangalyam item set is widely found in Hindu homes in Kerala. It symbolically represents auspiciousness and prosperity.
In Hindu wedding ceremonies, Ashtamangalaym is an important item. Girls from the bride's family go around with brass plates containing the Ashtamangalyam set having this auspicious Aranmula Valkkannadi.

There is a great difference between an ordinary mirror and the metallic mirror. In an ordinary mirror, there is a silver nitrate coating which reflects the light and thus presents the image of the object. There is no silver coating on the metallic mirror. When you touch a piece of paper on the surface of an ordinary mirror, there appears a gap between the object and the image whereas in the Aranmula metal mirror there is a point touching of two images and there exists no gap between the images.
